Sickle Cell Association of San Antonio-Marc Thomas Chapter

The SCAA-MTF is proud to

announce

its newest branch in San Antonio.

We recently had our first support group meeting, on August 6. At the

meeting our families shared their stories with

triumphing

over sickle cell

disease, and gave their input on the need for more support in San

Antonio.

President and Founder, Linda Wade, addressed many of the family concerns. Our Mwenje
family from Kenya informed us that out of 44 tribes in Kenya there were only two carriers of
sickle cell disease, their tribe as well the father of President Obama.

We were

enthusiastically

welcomed by Dr. Moore and we appreciate his

support and dedication. We look

forward

to developing a lasting

relationship with him. The two primary contacts in the San Antonio area
